{"id":1066,"date":"2015-04-23T14:26:35","date_gmt":"2015-04-23T14:26:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tapnetwork2030.org\/?p=1066"},"modified":"2016-02-04T18:35:18","modified_gmt":"2016-02-04T18:35:18","slug":"tap-network-side-event-making-goal-16-transformative-governance-indicators-in-a-post-2015-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tapnetwork2030.org\/tap-network-side-event-making-goal-16-transformative-governance-indicators-in-a-post-2015-world\/","title":{"rendered":"TAP Network Side-Event, Making Goal 16 Transformative: Governance Indicators in a Post-2015 World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">TAP Network Side-Event \u201cMaking Goal 16 Transformative: Governance Indicators in a Post-2015 World\u201d, co-hosted by the Permanent Mission of Romania to the UN<b>\u00a0<\/b>will take place on Wednesday, 25 March 2015 from 1:15 \u2013 2:30 PM in Conference Room 7 at UN Headquarters in New York.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">This side-event will bring together key experts on governance and statistics from civil society, governments and the UN System, to explore synergies and discuss potential indicators for Goal 16, and will be hosted in the margins of the March Post-2015 intergovernmental negotiations dedicated to discussing sustainable development goals and targets, as well as indicators. The panel discussion will be followed by an interactive dialogue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Effective governance in a Post-2015 world requires transparent, participatory and inclusive institutions that are accountable to the very people that the Post-2015 agenda intends to engage. The Post-2015 framework must promote openness, accountability and effective public institutions, build trust between states and its citizens, and empower civil society to engage in the design, implementation and accountability of public policies, at all levels. Putting together the right indicators to measure progress on effective, accountable and inclusive governance at all levels, is a critical first step in ensuring that the Post-2015 development agenda is truly transformative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>Speakers:<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">H.E.
